Mistletoe

It was a fine Saturday morning and wasn't going to waste this beautiful day being cooped up at home. Slipping out from her front door with a list of 'things to buy' in her hand, she headed over to her friend's, a childhood friend.

***

"Wakashi! There's someone at the door" called out the young boy's mother.
Hiyoshi Wakashi grumbled. He hated when visitors came, mainly because it meant he couldn’t be alone. He had to entertain them.

"What do you want?" he opened the door with a scowl on his face.

"Wakashi-kun~!" smiled the girl as she tilted her head to the side.

"Che. It's you..." he grumbled stepping aside for her to walk in.

Stepping into the house, the boy led her to the living room.

"Ohayo, " greeted Grandpa Hiyoshi as he looked up from the newspaper.

"Ohayo, Hiyoshi-san" she smiled back.

Hiyoshi Wakashi sat down on the sofa across her and flipped open a book. Scanning through the contents, he glanced over at the girl.

"Why are you here, ?" he asked, his eyes fixed on her like a hawk. Watching her every single move.

"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go Christmas shopping with me..."she asked, her voice getting lower as her sentence ended.  She could him his eyebrow raise as he watched her.  He didn’t look happy.

"Eh? What makes you think that I'm interested?!?!"

"Now, now... Wakashi. It's a nice day, you should go out" said Grandpa Hiyoshi, grinning as he got up off his chair.

"I am not going" protested Hiyoshi.

"I'm ordering you to go" said Grandpa Hiyoshi, his voice loud and clear.

"But--"

"No buts!" the old man smiled at his grandson, watching the boys shoulders slump in defeat.  Hiyoshi sighed. There was no way he could escape now that his grandfather had made up his mind.

.
"Fine, fine..." he growled and pulled the girl towards the front door, "We're going."

"H-hai..." she said, stumbling along behind him.

Satisfied with the results, Grandpa Hiyoshi smiled and gave a little wink at before returning back to the newspaper.  Her face turned pink, did he know?

***

"It's a beautiful day ne, Wakashi-kun?" said softly as they walked down the path.

"Hmph"

"Wa-ka-shi~ Don't be so mean!" pouted and tugged Hiyoshi's shirt.

"Damn it, girl!!" he turned to her, grabbing her wrists, "Why do you always appear to annoy me?!?!" he shouted at her.

struggled at his grasp, trying to free herself, "Mou... Wakashi! You're hurting me…" She said softly, but he didn’t let go.

"Wakashi!!!" she finally said in a firm voice.  He noticed the pain in her voice and with a hiss turned his back at her and walked away.

pouted rubbing her wrists.  "Wakashi! Wait up!" she called out, running to his ride.

"Ne, Wakashi... I'm sorry if I do annoy you...but--" she spoke in a soft tone.

Hiyoshi sighed, "It's fine"

"Really?" she asked touching his shoulder.

"Now, stop it!!!" he snapped, feeling his face heat up.

"H-hai!!" she whispered, looking down as she walked.

***

Walking around the shopping mall side by side, neither of them spoke a single word. Hiyoshi turned to his side and peeked at . she looked so sad, he ouldnt help but realize it was his fault.  Clearing his throat, he spoke "You know, you don't have to be all quiet..."

"Huh? Oh..." said softly, looking down again.

"Look, I'm sorry about what I said earlier."

"I-jyan, Wakashi-kun" she smiled.  Hiyoshi sighed. He still felt bad. Looking up from the floor he saw a sticker machine, and an idea sparked in his mind.

"Come here..." he pulled towards the sticker machine.

"Eh? What are you doing?" asked the confused girl.

"We're going to take pictures!" he smiled and guided her into the booth.  She shivered, he rarely showed his smile and when he did it was beautiful.  The slid into the booth and began looking through the templates.  After much debating they finally chose a snow background with snow flakes.

"Okay, I'm gonna press the button now, ... Give the camera your cutest smile."

"My cutest smile?!" she said with a weird look.

*SNAP*

"Heh... I said your cutest smile but this face is cute too!" laughed Hiyoshi as he stared at the finished product.

"Uwaaaah!! It's so ugly! I want to take another one, Wakashi..." she pouted as she tried to grab the photo.  But he raised his arm and held it above her reach.

"No it's not! You look so cute!" he grinned.

tried to snatch the stickers again but Hiyoshi was too fast for her. "Mou... Wakashi!" she pouted and pulled a sad face.

“Please Wakashi, lets take another.”  She cried, giving him her biggest puppy eyes.

"Nah... I'm not going to embarrass myself anymore by stepping in there again" he patted her head.

"Hidoi!"

***

"Uwah! I'm glad I got everything I need to buy!" said in a huff as she sat down on a bench in a nearby park.

"Did you have to buy so much?" grumbled Hiyoshi as he sat down next to her with most of her shopping bags.

"It's Christmas time! People need gifts!" she smiled and stretched her legs.

"You’re too giving..." he said quietly, as he smiled and stretched his back lazily.

grinned and handed him a small package. He took it and eyed the package curiously.

"For me?"

"Yep!"

"Aren't you suppose to give it to me on Christmas?"

"I want you to have it now, Wakashi."  She said, looking down.  She could feel her face heating up, she wondered if it was as red as it felt.

"I expect that you want me to open it now as well" he smirked slightly.

A small smile spread across 's face as she nodded looking up at him. Without any hesitation, Hiyoshi slowly opened the package and peeked into it. He saw something greenish and red. Taking a deep breath he inserted his hand into the package and slowly pulled the object out.

bit her lip. She wondered what his reaction would be.

As Hiyoshi pulled the object out, he turned his body towards so that he could face her. As soon as he pulled out the object, he felt something warm brushed against his lips.

Hiyoshi was stunned for a while. His eyes wandered to . She was sitting there with her head down and her face was flushing. He then looked at the object in his hand.

A mistletoe

***

After a moment of silence, Hiyoshi spoke up.

"..."

The blushing girl turned to face him. Hiyoshi smiled and reached out his hand to stroke her face.

"Um...yes, Wakashi?"

"And you called that a kiss?" he teased.

's face flushed to a deeper shade of red and turned to look away. The boy turned the girl's face back towards him and pressed his lips onto hers. gasped, allowing Hiyoshi's tongue to enter.

He slid his tongue down into her mouth exploring the depths. She did the same as well. Lips on lips, tongue against tongue.

A mistletoe surely work wonders.
