Raspberry Pie
No matter how far I hold out my hand
You're just out of my reach, so far away
But in the instant when I thought I might be able to touch you
You disappeared…
It doesn't matter how much I might hope otherwise
I'm never going to be able to reach you
But as long as you keep on smiling I can live with that…
, a third year student of Seishun Gakuen sat in her room alone. Yesterday was her last day in Middle school. She had graduated and she could no longer meet her friends and the one she loved and cared about that often anymore. Heaving a sigh, she got off her bed and headed to the door, accidentally knocking off a photo frame on the table.
Slowly she bent forward and picked up the photo frame. A faint smile crept over her face. Slowly touching the photo, she put it back on the desk, with memories seeping through her veins. “Syuusuke…” she said softly. She had taken that photo with Fuji Syuusuke when she was in her first year. They were supposed to be working on a science project together and they had to take photos of their work. But instead, they ended up taking photos together.
Brushing her thoughts away, she walked out of her room and went downstairs to the kitchen. “I feel like baking today…”. Looking through her fridge, she found that she had some raspberries. "I'll make some raspberry pie" she smiled and then suddenly, she frowned. Raspberry pie was Fuji's favourite.
"I miss him so much... And if he only knew how I feel."
She never told him how she felt. Everytime she tried, something got in her way. No matter how close she was to him, she couldn't reach him. She felt sad but then she remembered how he would smile and tell her to smile when she was sad. "As long as you keep on smiling, Syuusuke... I'll be happy..."
She sighed and looked away from the fridge. She looked through the cabinets only to find that she did not have any flour left. "Aa... I have to go to the shop for flour" she thought, gloomily. Looking out her kitchen window, she could see that it was going to rain soon. So, she got her coat and walked to the convenience store nearby.
The air was colder than usual, "It's going to rain heavily today..." she frowned. Walking through the aisles, she finally came to the Cereal Section. Browsing through the aisle, she finally found the flour. It was the last one left. She reached out but someone else reached out for it too. Their hands touched. "Gomen... You can have it" she said as she quickly retrieved her hand.
"No, you were here first so it's yours..." chuckled the familiar voice.
Slowly, she turned to look at the stranger and was greeted by a warm and familiar smile. "Ogenki desu ka, ?" greeted the stranger. "Syuusuke?" she blinked.
"H-hai, ogenki desu!" she bowed immediately. Fuji chuckled and placed a hand on her shoulder, "So, you're baking today?"
"Yes... Er... Are you going to bake too?" she asked him and turned away blushing. "That sounded stupid!" she said to herself.
"Well sort of..." he smiled. Both of them walked over to the counter and paid. "I... I guess this means goodbye again huh?" she said sadly.
Fuji smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "Well, not exactly... Let me walk you home". nodded and flushed a deep shade of red, "Arigatou...". Throughout their journey back, no words were spoken but to , silence was beautiful, because the one she loved was holding her and she finally got to feel his touch. She finally got to touch him.
When they finally reached her house, Fuji let her go and bowed before walking away. Seeing him leave she felt sad, she was losing him. Again. "Don't let this chance waste away!!" her thoughts screamed.
She ran after him, "Syuusuke!"
He stopped and turned, "Doushita, -kun?"
"Would you like to stay for dinner... With me?"
"I'd loved to..." he beamed. smiled as she led him into her home. "I'm going to make raspberry pie... I know it's you favourite so I thought you might want to have some..." she said sheepishly. "That's very sweet of you... But I'd rather have you instead" he smirked and draped his arms around her petite waist.
"Syuu... suke!!" she exclaimed. Fuji gave out a small chuckled and placed a kiss on her neck. flushed beat red. Is this real or is she dreaming? She's too confused and shocked. Lifting his hands to her chin, he whispered "I know it's too sudden... But I've been running away from you all this. I was afraid that, I might not be the one... But I guess I was wrong... Everytime I walk away from you I see the sparkle in you eyes go away... I don't want that to happen...". He gazed into those hazel orbs.
"Syuusuke..." she snuggled against him. She had never felt such warmth from him. His hand pushed her head up softly and she turned to look at him. Fuji then pressed his lips on hers and slid his tongue into her small mouth.
After a while, he broke of the kiss and whispered something in her ears that made her hold him tighter...
"You're my one and only raspberry pie..."
