Journal of Atobe's Little Sister

Part II: Meeting the Rikkai Dai Regulars

I knew it was very stupid of me to stay in. Already past practice and Tezuka-san had told me to go home, but did I listen?

Na-uh.

I seriously need to listen when someone tells me not to overwork myself.

And just my luck… it was raining and it’s already night.

sighed as she looked outside. It was pouring! No, pouring was the wrong word. It was thundering and storming. bit her lip, pulling the phone from her bag. Somehow even before turning it on she knew that the battery would be dead. Frowning, she looked around the court and knew that she had better start running, as there was no way in hell she would stay here alone.

Now that she wished that she had actually listened to Tezuka earlier or at least had insisted that someone stay behind with her.

She ran through the shaded areas, but tried to not to stay long under the trees, knowing it wasn’t considered safe to stand under a tree when there was lightning. She decided to head straight into the only shelter that she would find solace. She walked into the coffeehouse that she frequented and leaned by the door. She was soaked from head to toe.

Looking around the place, she noted only a few people there. Sighing, she shivered a bit as the owner of the coffee house waved at her.

"Atobe-chan," the kind man said. "Go sit in the back where the heater is, I'll send a warm cup of cocoa."

"Thank you, Kazuya-sama," she said, making her way to the back. She tried not to drip all over the floor too much. As she made her way there, she felt five pairs of eyes on her. Six, actually, but the last pair looked closed. She recognized one pair.

"Sanada-san?"

The other guys looked at Sanada and he stood up. "Atobe. What are you doing here?"

She was going to answer, but a jacket fell on her shoulders. She turned and saw a boy with glasses behind her. "I'm sorry, but you look like you're freezing. Please allow me to seat you," Yagyuu said kindly, leading her to their table.

hesitated, but she sat down next to one of the boys. He had reddish hair and was too busy eating his cake to notice her sitting next to him.

"Did Sanada-senpai really call you Atobe?" a devilish-looking boy asked her. He had a mass of curls that she had never seen before. She wondered how the hell he managed to maintain his curls.

"Yes, I am Atobe ," she finally answered.

They each introduced themselves and Renji had managed to give them the statistics of her whole figure as well.

~~~
I couldn't help but smile.
They were a weird combination in one group.
I knew from reputation that they were strong.
Looking at each of them as an individual, they each possessed a unique quality that made them stand out. I know Keigo would freak or no, not freak out, but go insane if he knew I was even near the Rikkai Dai tennis club, but...
I felt comfortable.
I felt more at ease with them than any others.
I liked their company. XD
"You have a weird look on your face," Niou said, waving his hand in front of 's dazed face.
blinked, but then shook her head. 'I'm sorry, I was just thinking," she said, her eyes looking at the window. "I really need to call the driver..." she muttered, taking out her phone, but she had forgotten that it was dead. Frowning, she decided to take out some change from her bag. "I'm going to make a phone call," she said standing up, excusing herself, but Kirihara stopped her,
"Don't be stupid," he said, pushing her back onto the chair. "Use this." He handed her his cell phone.
"But..."
"You want to go out in the rain again?' Renji asked .
Sighing, took the phone from Kirihara's extended hand. She started dialing Keigo's number, but then stopped. I can't call him from a boy's number, he'll jump to conclusions, she thought as she decided to dial her room number at home. She knew one of the maids would be there. As she waited for someone to pick up, she glanced at Sanada. If she hadn't even looked to where he was sitting, she didn't think she would've even realized he was there the whole time. He was the quietest one in the group.
"Good evening." She heard someone say smoothly.
frowned. The voice, the Kansai accent... It was very familiar when suddenly she realized something and lost it. "Yuushi!" She yelled, standing up and slamming her hand on the table. "What are you doing picking up the phone in my room?" she demanded startling the regulars.
A soft chuckled could be heard from the other end of the phone. "Worried?"
glared at the phone. "Listen you perverted bastard…" she began, "Don't you go sitting on my bed or going through my clothes!" she said heatedly. "And just get out of my room.'
Niou grinned looking at Kirihara who had the same expression on his face.
Oshitari Yuushi laughed.
"What are you laughing at?" demanded.
She heard more voices in his background and wondered who else was there. Before she could say anything else, she heard another person ask, "Who is this?"
"Keigo," she said exasperated, recognizing her brother's voice. "What are you doing in my room?"
"Looking through your DVD collection," he told her un-caring, "What do you want, brat?"
let out another sigh. It was obvious that he hadn't realized it by now. "Look at your watch, you ass."
"What?"
"Look. At. Your. Watch."
She heard him move about.
"8PM? Where are you?” he demanded sternly.
"How sweet of you to notice I was gone," she said sarcastically. She told him where she was.
"I'll send the driver for you."
"It's good to see that you have a great loving relationship with your brother." Niou said, smiling sarcastically.
She poked his nose lightly. "No bad mouthing Keigo!" she said sternly. "Only I get to do that," she said, sitting down as and picking up her mug of hot cocoa. Sipping it lightly, she allowed the warm liquid to sweep through and keep her warm. Moving her long hair away, she picked up a band and tied it up in a high ponytail. She listened quietly as the regulars talked amongst themselves about upcoming events and matches. They tried involving her sometimes, but she'd just nod or give some mild agreement.
"Do you play?" she heard someone ask, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Huh?" she said, looking at Yagyuu sitting next to her.
Pushing his glasses up, he moved his head slightly and pointed at her wrist. "Tennis," he explained, "Your wrist indicates that you play."
looked at her wrist. "Weird," she remarked, trying to understand what showed that she played the game. "I do," she admitted, "But I'm not a big fan, I only play because I'm always surrounded by people who play."
"Did you ever beat your brother?" Renji asked.
look at him and crossed her arms. "I wish! That arrogant bastard always wins," she said, crinkling her nose, annoyed. "I have only managed to get 3 games out of 6 from him."
They all looked surprised.
"Anyway," she said, waving lightly when she saw her limousine parked outside, "goodbye and thank you all for the company."
They all watched her run off, each of them forming their own opinion about the younger Atobe. "Nioh-Senpai…" Kirihara began, looking at Nioh. "Three out of six games…"
Renji rubbed his jaw. "I was wondering about that. That is rather good." He looked at Sanada. "Genichirou, any comment?"
"No."
~~~

That was fun in a weird way.

I was a bit paranoid at first, but like I said earlier, I was at ease after I got to know them. They were all cute in their own way.

So that's Rikkai Dai…

Interesting.

Interesting indeed…

"Serves you right," Atobe told , watching her sneeze for the fourth time the next morning. He rolled his eyes as his little sister kept sneezing and sneezing. Her eyes were tearing and her nose was a bit reddish. Standing up, he pulled towards him, and placed his hand on her forehead. "You have a fever." He held her gently by the waist. "You’d better go to your room."

sneezed on his shoulder. "I have to be at practice..." She hugged him lightly, trying to steady herself. "The team has a match next week and I have to be there."

"Just go to bed," he ordered, and decided to ask one of the maids to escort her upstairs. "I'll call Tezuka."

didn’t even bother arguing.

~~~
Argh! What bad timing.
I don’t want to stay in bed, but I'm so tired…
I need to go to practice.
I have to go…
I…
ZzzZzzzzzz
