Do You Believe in Magic?
Chapter 1: Witch + Rejection= Little Boy’s Behind on Fire
The little girl with amethyst eyes looked over at the boy with soft brown hair. Blushing slightly, she walked over to him, gripping the hem of her skirt and blushing deeply. "Soujirou-kun, I really like you!" There was a silence and the little brown haired boy simply replied to her confession with a, "I don't like ugly girls!" Somehow the timid, gentle, shy girl suddenly felt her good side vanish as her gentle shy face suddenly changed to a crazed killers face. There was a scream and then the next second the soft brown haired boy was running around the playground howling with pain, it took people 2 seconds to realize that the little boy’s behind was on fire. The little girl stood there shocked, how did the boy’s behind catch on fire when she felt so angry? What was this feeling? After splashing water on the shaking boy, her older sister came running into the playground after she heard about the news. Running towards her, she picked up the small 5 year old little girl. Looking down at her face's expression the older girl sighed, "Let's go home , I think it's time that you know the truth."
When they had both arrived home, her older sister took her upstairs and sat down on one of the chairs in the attic. Looking at the little girls shocked expression, she knew that it was going to be hard for her. " , all the females in our family are witches; you have the power of projecting fire, making you able to control fire, mom had the power to freeze objects, and I have the ability to explode objects." Smiling at the little girl, who was now shaking in fear, she ran her fingers through her hair, "I wanted to tell you when you were older, but since you already set the boy’s behind on fire, I had to tell you now." She picked up the small little girl and told her, "You will need to learn how to control your abilities; it's going to be hard with your temper though."
~*~*~*~*~
Ever since that day where I set my crush’s behind on fire, ever since, that day my sister told me the truth… My life suddenly turned upside down, it wasn't exactly easy for a 5 year old to handle this much pressure. Yet, I found my ability of projecting and controlling fire quite useful, like the time when someone poured gasoline on me and accidentally knocked me into a pit of flames. I came out as good as new since fire doesn't have any effect on me, my sister wasn't so happy about that, so she immediately transferred me into another school. She insisted that I should never provoke dangerous people; it could result into something terrible. However, being the stubborn and rebellious girl I was, I didn't want to be known as the pussy who didn't ever stick up for herself.
I have to admit however, I did do some very bad things in the past after finding out about my abilities. I was gradually able to control it, but having such amazing powers, I decided that having a bit of practice wouldn't hurt anybody right? Wrong, I wanted to do a little practicing after school when I was supposed to be on cleaning duty. I decided to test it out on my teacher’s fresh bouquet of flowers, I was able to melt the flowers perfectly, but my teacher came back into the classroom and searched frantically for the flowers. I wondered at that time why would she go through so much trouble over a bouquet of flower; however, it turned out that bouquet was from her fiancé who died in a car accident just a few hours ago. I felt terrible and even scolded myself for doing such a thing, even if I was just 10 at that time, I still should have known better then to burn other people’s flowers.
Then in my 2nd year of junior high when I met a girl who had issues with me and always picked on me. I didn't like her because she had no reason why she hated me, at first it was annoying, then it became nerve racking, and finally, it started ticking me off badly. Then one day, I found out that she had purposely stuffed my bag with marijuana to get me expelled. That was the final straw and I just wanted to humiliate her so badly, that she would leave the school. So, during her gym class I snuck into the girls’ locker room and took out her uniform, I had learned at that time how to make little burnt holes. I thought that ability would be useless but it came in handy because while she stayed in the gym thinking of having me expelled, I was burning little holes in her school uniform. When she came back from gym she found her uniform had holes all over it, she broke down crying because for the rest of the day she would walk around the whole school with holes in her uniform. I was quite happy with the results, but my sister found out about what I did and the minute I stepped into the house, she began exploding every object near me screaming that I should have learned to handle my anger problems more carefully.
There was also another time during my last year in junior high when I accidentally left my wallet at school. The school was closed and I wanted my wallet to go buy some Takoyakis. Even if it meant sneaking in, I ended up burning the window open and retrieving my wallet, but the next day the principal was in panic that there was window burning robber on the loose. I felt somewhat shocked and maybe just a little bit of proud-ness, I was the window burning robber on the loose but then again it's not really anything to brag about.
I have to admit, I did do a lot of stupid things with my magic, a lot of stupid things that didn't really do much in my life expect give me a few ha-ha's. Though, I wouldn't really be laughing at my status right now, it's not funny and it's definitely not something I take back either. It all started during the middle of my 2nd year in high school, all because I forgot to do my math homework and my teacher had asked me to come up to the board and write down the homework.
"If there's anyone in this room that got more then 2 answers on the math homework wrong, I'm going to give you a test every single day after school." Pushing her specs up, the teacher smiled at the students who were all petrified. She looked around the room, trying to find the first victim to torture, ducked quickly under her desk and started to dig for her math homework. The teacher caught her eyes on who was frantically mumbling, "Where is it?" Smiling widely she pointed at her, "Get up , let's see your wonderful math skills." Quickly, looking up from her desk she gasped in horror, the whole class gave her a pitying look. Her legs felt like jelly and her stomach was twisting round and round.
'I don't want to spend the rest of this school year having anymore extra classes with Himura-sensei; times like these I'm grateful I have magic!' Gripping tightly onto the chalk, she took a deep breath and whispered, "Help me please, just this once." After a few minutes the board was covered with all the correct answers and various formulas. Her jaws nearly dropped open, she overdid it. She felt someone grabbed her hand quickly and she found herself face to face with her math teacher who was sobbing tears of joy. "You have made your teacher proud; I hereby declare that I'll be placing you to skip one grade, from now on you are a 3rd year!!!"
"Eh?!?!?!?!"
~*~*~*~*~*~
This would normally be a good thing, but the bad thing is that I did not do those problems with my brain, I used magic. I'm also not the most intelligent person in my class, so having to advance one year higher is not the greatest thing for me. It would mean many things, such as more studying and I'll be more known so teachers will always pick me to write the answers on the board. As bad as those all sound, it wasn't as bad as the punishment I got from my sister when she found out; it didn't take her a while to know that I used magic. Living with me for half her life she knew perfectly well I was not intelligent, she also knew that I used magic without hesitation and this was why the minute I stepped into the house, she had exploded the vases and a couple of windows.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!!!" shouted as she ducked behind a couch as she heard her sister exploding the plasma screen T.V. There was a crash and she saw that her sister had exploded the trophy case. Poking her head up, she gasped, "Hey, I worked really hard for that music trophy!" She quickly ducked again when her sister exploded another window and quickly standing up, she pointed at her sister, "Stop it, and don’t make me use my power!" was so angry, her eyes were literally red and she looked like she was going to explode her own sister. "Do you have any idea how much trouble you're in, I mean, you're seriously screwed!"
Backing away took a deep breath, "I'll do anything to make up for this, just tell me anything to do!" glared at her, "Fine, from now on you must not use magic for stupid reasons, you will also be more serious on your magic studying, and you will from now on help people in need."
She looked at her sister with a confused look, "Help humans, how?" Her sister took in a deep breath to calm herself down, "If there are humans in need of help, you must help them, or else you know what will happen." When she finished her sentence, she sent the table flying

"Class, I'm proud to say that the genius is now in our classroom!" The teacher squealed excitedly as she shoved into the classroom. Looking at the class she saw a lot of people waving to her and smiling, they seemed to really like her.
'Hmm, maybe it won't be so bad, I might actually enjoy this.' She thought to herself as she took a seat next to Kansai genius, Oshitari Yuushi.
After class was dismissed, the students came running to her asking her to help them on the homework, they were all smiling and being really friendly. She was sure that this couldn't possibly be a bad thing. At least, that's what she thought, after she had helped almost every student with their homework, she was sure that she got most of the questions right. Though she was terribly wrong, the next day after the homework was checked the students that had asked her for help were absolutely furious with her, they had gotten every single question wrong and now she realized that it was going to be tougher from now on.
She had been showered with hate mails and words that were filled with anger and now she was being constantly attacked by students. The teachers however still worshipped her, they thought that this hidden talent of hers is special and she doesn't enjoy flaunting it to others. They tried helping her from these angry mobs of students by saying that she gave them the wrong answers on purpose so they can learn from their mistakes. However, it didn't help much, it just caused more rage and ruckus and now almost half of the entire school hate her and the ones that didn't ignore her, the only ones friendly to her were the teachers. That didn't help her one bit, she felt frustrated and angry; she should have known that she wasn't supposed to help them.
"Ahh...this sucks..." mumbled as she slammed her forehead against her desk during lunch, ‘If only I could use magic...’ she thought. Suddenly the voice of her sister’s words flashed in her mind.
<Use it for only emergencies, not stupid reasons.>
She frowned, ‘This is an emergency, but I'll be in so much trouble if she finds out.’ Sighing to herself she looked out the window. "It's all so hard to handle..." Standing up from her desk she pushed her hair back, "Screw everybody, I'm going home." She hissed grabbing her bag to leave She turned to exit the room but found that the teacher and Oshitari were in front of her.
" , I want Oshitari-san to tutor you since you've been having a hard gtime even though I know you don't need it." She stared him, 'Maybe he can help me and I better take this chance.' She nodded her head and quickly rushed past them. She really couldn't take anymore torture from the students.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sitting on the steps of her backyard, she adjusted her sun hat as she stared at the garden. "Maybe I should transfer schools again...but I have a feeling it's not going to be any different..." Her eyes suddenly caught a slug that was devouring a piece of her sister’s herb plants. Walking over, she remembered that her sister would go berserk if she found out that she didn't stop the slug from eating her plants. Yet, she felt bad if she didn't let it eat, even though it was a slug, she still wanted it to eat. Running into her house, she searched in the cabinets for bug food, grabbing a small jar that said 'bug food' she scurried over the fridge and took out a jug of milk. Taking a bowl and a grinder, she poured in some of the 'bug food' and poured in milk and started to crush it. Slugs don’t have teeth, so they dissolve it like liquid, at least that's what she thought it went like.
Hurrying outside, she poured the liquid on the slug and smiled, "Just don't eat my sisters herbs anymore, she'll definitely kill you and I don't think we would want that."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Where am I?" Turning around she gaped in horror as she saw a huge slug that had its mouth open revealing razor sharp teeth. She screamed.
Quickly, sitting up in bed, sat there panting, "Oh good, it was just a dream." Glancing over at her alarm clock she gasped, "Shit, I'm late!!!!"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Running into the classroom, she took her seat next to Oshitari who kept staring at her. She suddenly grinned, 'Maybe he's fallen in love with me, oh, and no one can stand my irresistible charm!' He put his hand to his mouth trying to stop himself from laughing, "Your face!" Looking in her compact mirror, she gasped in horror, he was right, it seemed as though had quite a fun time doodling on her face. Oshitari wasn't the only one cracking up; the whole class was trying to keep themselves from bursting into a fit of giggles.
Rushing out of the class, ran towards the nearest bathroom and tried to turn on the faucet. The water didn't come out, feeling herself go red, she kicked the pipe hard. There was a thud and a sickening slimy noise. Turning around quickly, she gasped in horror, in front of her was a slug that was 10 feet tall. "Oh my god, my dream came true!!!" She shouted, she waited for the slug to attack her, but instead she saw that it was writing with its slime on the wall.
"I won't hurt you, you saved me."
"You gave me magical pellets that made me grow."
"You grabbed the wrong bottle."
She sighed in relief, "well at least it won't eat me."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
" 's taking a long time in the bathroom; can you go check on her Oshitari-san?" The teacher asked him, he sighed and left the classroom.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Looking at the slug, she saw it didn't look scary, it looked rather....interesting. The door of the bathroom swung open, " , the teacher's looking for...what the..?!" Oshitari stood there in disbelief, Standing in front of him, against the wall was , and about four feet away from her stood a 0 feet tall slug. She smiled nervously, "H.he won't hurt me because he's…um, kind?" smiled nervously. Suddenly the slug started writing more on the wall.
"Wrong, it's because I love you."
Her jaws nearly dropped off when she read that and Oshitari was rather shocked. " , is.is this your boyfriend?" She shook her head, "I don't love that thing I swear!!!"
There was a sniffle and then she saw that the slug was....crying? It continued writing, "It's because of him isn't it, you're choosing him over me, I'll take you away whether you like it or not!!!" She screamed and ran out of the bathroom as the slug slithered down the hallway after her. Oshitari still sat on the floor in shock.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Stumbling over the lunchroom floor tried to get ahead of the slug. She turned the corner but slipped and fell to the floor, "How do I get rid of it, I can't use fire, everyone's watching."
"Salt, who wants more salt on their chicken?" The voice of the lunchroom lady hollered, she seemed to be unaware that all the students were running away, screaming when they saw a 10 feet tall slug.
Staring at the bucket of salt, she jumped at it and threw a handful at the slug’s body, it started to sizzle and ooze. Wrinkling her nose, she continued throwing at it while shouting, "I'm not interest in insects, I gave you food and you try to give me love, no thanks!!!!" After a few minutes, the cafeteria floor was covered in slime and she was panting hard as she shuddered, "I am never going to feed anyone with anything that comes from my place." The door of the cafeteria swung open and Oshitari ran in, "Are you okay?" He stopped when her saw that her face still had drawings and doodles on it and that she was now standing in slug muck. He burst into laughter, too found herself gradually laughing. The whole slug experience was pretty funny now that the slug was actually gone.
